Guru Dutt Singh Smriti Seva Sansthan is going to organize a memorial festival on 23rd December keeping in mind the appearance of Shri Ram Lalla and the contribution of Thakur Guru Dutt Singh. On this occasion, we would like to discuss the incident that happened on the night of 22/23. There was an increase in enthusiasm in the Hindu society after the idol of Lord Ramlala was found in the disputed premises at midnight on 22 December 1949. Thousands of Ram devotees had gathered in Ayodhya. At that time, the District Magistrate of Ayodhya was KK Nayyar and the City Magistrate was Thakur Gurudutt Singh. The DM went on leave during that time after giving charge to the City Magistrate.

On the other hand, the then Prime Minister directed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Govind Ballabh Pant to immediately remove the statue from the disputed premises. City Magistrate Thakur Gurudutt Singh, who is looking after the charge of DM, sent a report to the state government that removing the statue at this time could lead to the situation going out of control. A riot may break out. Seeing the increasing pressure to remove the statue, he resigned from the post of City Magistrate. Before resigning, the City Magistrate took two historic decisions. These decisions later became the basis for the liberation of Ramjanmabhoomi.

While passing the first order, Section 144 was imposed to ensure that the disputed premises area was not disturbed under Section 155. In the second order, the order to offer food and worship the idol of Ramlala daily was made in favor of Hindus. Soon after this, the administration got the disputed premises locked. However, the order of Thakur Gurudutt Singh proved helpful in opening the lock.
