Incidents of drowning in Saryu have started increasing once again. The reason for this is said to be the low water level of Saryu. In an incident that happened on Tuesday evening, five teenagers drowned while bathing in Saryu. Two of them died while three were saved by the water police.
Both the incidents happened at different times. In the first incident, Ramesh Mishra, a resident of Saltua village in Basti district, came to his in-laws’ house in Ayodhya on Monday night with his two sons Manas (16) and Kavi alias Manav (15) and daughter Palak. He left the children and went back home.

While bathing, Manas and Kavi alias Manav and cousins Anuj (17) and Anvisha (10), daughters of Sanjay Tiwari, resident of Naugarh, Siddharth Nagar, started drowning in the deep water in front of the Kachcha Ghat. Immediately the water police and local divers saved three children from drowning but Kavi could not be found.
He was found after three hours of search. In the second incident, Piyush Dubey (12) son of Ram Prakash Dubey, resident of Haiderganj, Ayodhya was bathing with his family when suddenly he jumped from the barricade and got drowned in the stream. After about one and a half hours, the water police found him and took him to Shriram Hospital. Here the doctors declared him dead.
