Waterlogging in roads and streets

Waterlogging in Arya Kanya Gali after rain. – Dialogue

Ayodhya. The preparations made for water drainage were exposed in the pre-monsoon rains. Roads and lanes were submerged in many low-lying areas of the city. There was delay in water drainage at many places on Rampath as well. Traffic came to a halt for some time due to waterlogging in Kandhari Bazaar and Arya Kanya Gali. People had to face difficulties in many other localities and colonies. Now the city dwellers are afraid of the situation after the arrival of monsoon.

On Saturday, there was heavy rain for an hour at short intervals in Ayodhya Dham and Cantt. Due to this, the problem of waterlogging arose in many roads, lanes, neighborhoods and colonies. The problem increased more in those places where there was already waterlogging due to road widening, construction of drains and ducts. Due to the change in the mood of the weather, the joy of relief from the heat was eclipsed by the pain of waterlogging. It was a different matter that in many areas the water level decreased a bit after some time.

The most pathetic situation due to waterlogging due to rain was in Adarsh Puram, Adarsh Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Rishi Tola, Kandhari Bazaar, Beniganj Railway Crossing, Naka and many such low lying areas. Thousands of people here had to face problems in commuting and getting out of their homes. On Rampath also, rain water stagnated at many places between Sahadatganj and Nayaghat. In such a situation, people passing by in vehicles had difficulty. People heaved a sigh of relief when the water drained out some time after the rain stopped.

Quick response team formed to deal with waterlogging

Municipal Commissioner Santosh Sharma has formed a quick response team in view of the rains expected in the coming days. This team will help in dealing with waterlogging in any emergency. All the senior officers of the Municipal Corporation will visit the areas affected by waterlogging and resolve the problem immediately. In this connection, the Municipal Commissioner inspected the waterlogging at Naka. Waterlogging has occurred here due to the obstruction of the flow of water due to the construction of the drain by the Public Works Department.

After the rain, there was a little more problem in those areas where the construction of drains and ducts is going on along with road widening. At some other places, there was a problem of waterlogging for a while, but after the rain stopped, the water slowly drained out. Alternative arrangements have also been made by the Municipal Corporation at many places. If the water does not drain out on its own, then the problem will be solved with the help of a pump.
