The line of partition drawn on the map of the country 75 years ago rendered lakhs of people homeless. They had to leave their homes and wander aimlessly. Lakhs of people fled from Pakistan and reached India. Here they established themselves on the basis of hard work and dedication. They made their own identity in the world of business and achieved a new position. But even today, remembering that period makes us shudder.
Some in the family had suffered the pain themselves and some grew up listening to that pain. Om Prakash Omi, National Public Relations Officer of Sindhu Ekta Manch, says that the scene of partition is still floating in the eyes of Sindhi families. These families feel sad remembering their loved ones.
Saraswati came empty handed, today it is a big business
90-year-old Saraswati Devi, a resident of Sindhi Colony, Ramnagari, had come to India with her entire family from Karachi by train after Partition. Rioters were looting and killing people in trains, there was a fear of death every moment.
After coming to India, she started living in Basti city of Uttar Pradesh. After some time, she became a permanent resident of Faizabad. When she came from Pakistan, she was empty handed. After this, she started the bidi business with her late husband Chanchal Das. Sindhi bidi is a big business. They are counted among the reputed businessmen.
