Ayodhya. The ban on boating in Saryu has been maintained. The administration had banned boating during the Sawan fair. On Friday, CO Ayodhya Ashutosh Tiwari held a meeting with the boatmen. In the meeting, he explained the rules and regulations to the boatmen and strictly instructed that action will be taken against those operating boats without registration. It will be mandatory for every boatman to keep a life jacket on the boat. Right now the water level of Saryu is high, boating will start after the water level decreases.
Recently, a boat capsized in Saryu, in which a young woman died by drowning. There were more people on the boat than its capacity. After this, boat operation in Saryu was banned. More than 180 boatmen operate boats in Saryu, half of them were not even registered. Now the process of registration of boatmen is underway. Regarding this, CO Ayodhya held a meeting with the boatmen on Friday. He informed that the process of registration of about 130 boatmen has been completed. There are 50 to 60 boatmen who are not registered. They have been asked to get themselves registered immediately.
Boatmen have also been instructed not to operate boats without life jackets and not to carry more passengers than the capacity. Minors will not be allowed to operate boats. Boating will be allowed only from 6 am to 6 pm. This time limit can be changed depending on the weather and festivals. Information was received that some outsiders are also operating boats in Saryu. It has been asked to stop this immediately.
