Four people died in the last 24 hours in flood affected areas. One person each died due to drowning in Shravasti, Sonbhadra and Fatehpur while one person died due to heavy rains in Etawah. According to government data, Ganga river is flowing above the danger level in Kachla Bridge of Badaun, Ghazipur and Ballia, while Sharda river is flowing above the danger level in Paliakalan of Lakhimpur Kheri and Ghaghra river is flowing above the danger level in Elgin Bridge of Barabanki, Turtipar of Ballia in Ayodhya. So far 41 districts have been affected by the floods while in the last 24 hours 21 districts have been hit by floods. 14 teams of NDRF, 15 teams of SDRF and 48 teams of PAC have been deployed in the flood affected areas.
Floods worsened due to Nepali water, water entered 550 houses
Saryu has assumed a terrifying form. After heavy rains in Nepal, eight lakh cusecs of water released from the barrages has caused the rise in the flow of Saryu. The situation is such that Saryu has touched the highest water level of this season. Saryu is flowing 59 cm above the red mark. Due to which flood water has entered 550 houses in Sadar and Rudauli tehsils. A population of about eight thousand is affected, people are rapidly taking shelter on embankments.
In the last 24 hours, a rise of 19 cm has been recorded in the water level of Saryu. According to the report of Central Water Commission, the water level of Saryu was recorded at 93.32 meters on Monday evening at 6 pm which is 59 cm above the danger mark of 92.73 meters. Due to the flood, 11 villages of Rudauli and about 12 villages of Sadar tehsil are affected. Flood water has filled 150 houses in Purabazar. While flood water has entered about 400 houses in different villages of Rudauli tehsil. All these families are preparing to migrate, some have taken shelter on the embankments.
Water is entering urban areas as well. The steps of the Saryu Ghats of Ayodhya Dham have submerged in water. The posts of the priests have been washed away in the flood. While the cremation ground has completely submerged. Flood water has reached the entrance of the Phatik Shila temple located behind the Ramghat Halt railway station. It has become difficult for the saints to come out of the temple. The biggest problem is being faced in the last rites. ADM Finance and Revenue Mahendra Singh said that the vigilance of the embankments has been increased. Relief material is being distributed in the flood affected areas. Boats have been arranged for transportation. The flood situation is being monitored 24 hours a day.
