The ongoing work on the plan of applying tilak on the forehead of Ram Lalla with the rays of the sun on his birth anniversary was finally successful after a year of hard work. Now, when the sun’s rays will apply the tilak on the forehead of Ramlala on the day of Ram Janmotsav on 17th April at exactly 12 o’clock, then the advanced engineering and science of the country will also have the tilak on the forehead of spirituality.
A trial was conducted continuously on last Sunday and Monday to apply Surya Tilak on the forehead of Ram Lalla. On Sunday, the sun’s rays were visible only around Ramlala’s chin and lips. With the combined efforts of science and engineering, scientists and engineers finally succeeded in this challenging task the very next day. The rays of the sun started rising from Ramlala’s lips and settling on his forehead. Seeing this, the happiness of the team engaged in this work knew no bounds. Scientists have worked hard for a year to make this plan a reality. Many times, teams of scientists came to Ayodhya and studied the geographical location of the Ramjanmabhoomi complex and the structure of the temple. After this, a special equipment was prepared to apply ‘Surya Tilak’.
Scientists named it ‘Surya Tilak Mechanism’
This special ‘Surya Tilak’ will be decorated on the forehead of Ramlala on every Ram Navami i.e. the birthday of Lord Ram. Scientists have named it ”Surya Tilak Mechanism”. Scientists of Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) located in Roorkee have given shape to this plan. A team of scientists from CBRI has designed the Surya Tilak mechanism in such a way that every Ram Navami, at 12 noon, the sun’s rays will fall on the forehead of the idol of Lord Ram for about three to four minutes.
Rays will reach from the third floor to the sanctum sanctorum
The sun’s rays will be brought to the sanctum sanctorum from the third floor near the peak of the temple. For this, special types of mirrors and lenses have been arranged. In this the principles of changing the path of the Sun will be used. According to scientists, the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, India’s premier institute in the field of astronomy, has solved the problem arising due to the complex difference between the lunar and solar (Gregorian) calendars. It was an interesting scientific experiment. In this, the 19-year repeat cycle of the two calendars helped solve the problem.
No use of electricity, batteries or iron
Gopal Rao, in charge of the construction of Ram temple, says that the date of Ram Navami is determined by the lunar calendar. Therefore, to ensure that the auspicious consecration takes place as per schedule, special arrangements of 19 gears have been made. Scientists have said that electricity, batteries or iron have not been used in the gear-based Surya Tilak mechanism.
the result of their hard work
In making the special ‘Surya Tilak’, technical help regarding the path of the Sun has been taken from the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru. Rajendra Kotariya, MD of Bengaluru-based company Optica, has prepared the lens and brass tube. He also installed it. The CBRI team is led by Dr SK Panigrahi along with Dr RS Bisht, Kanti Lal Solanki, V Chakradhar, Dinesh and Sameer.
Surya Tilak is being done in these temples also
The Surya Tilak mechanism is already being used in some Jain temples and the Sun Temple at Konark. However, different types of engineering have been used in them. The mechanism is the same in Ram temple also, but the engineering is completely different. It was a big challenge to do the tilak at the stipulated time.
