Doctor treating a patient in the medical college.
Case 1: Priya (18), resident of Rampur Bhagahi, Gonda, has been suffering from ear discharge for a long time. They can’t hear. The doctors told him the need for operation, but due to lack of microscope, he was given medicine and sent without operation.
Case Two: Pravesh Kumari (35) of Sohawal often has fluid coming out from her ears. When local doctors did not help, he contacted the medical college. Here also some medicines were given only along with consultation. The operation is not being carried out due to lack of equipment.
Ayodhya. In the last five years, a microscope worth Rs 50 lakh could not be arranged in the medical college. Because of this, patients are not able to undergo operations in the ENT department here. However, claims are being made that its procurement process is going on for more than a year.
Rajarshi Dashrath Medical College was established in the year 2019. Since then, facilities are being increased here, but due to the negligence of those responsible, many important departments are crippled. In the name of improving the system, only food supply is being done. There is one of these in the ENT department.
Due to lack of microscope, patients suffering from holes in the ear, ruptured eardrum and other ear problems are being turned away without operation. 100-120 patients reach ENT OPD every day. Of these, 50 percent patients are found suffering from these problems. Due to lack of resources, they are able to get only minor medicines along with consultation. When a demand for operation is made, it is postponed.
Operations are done for Rs 30,000 to Rs 1 lakh
Due to non-availability of operations in medical colleges for ear-related diseases, patients go to private hospitals, where they have to spend Rs 30,000 to Rs 1 lakh for different types of operations.
– Tender process has been done twice to purchase the microscope, but due to less number of people participating, the purchase is not being done. After the expiry of the code of conduct, tender will be floated again.
