Counter in a narrow place, patients take medicines by pushing themselves

Patients and attendants standing in queue to get medicines from the medicine distribution room of the district hospital.

Ayodhya. The new medicine distribution room opened in the New Surgery OPD for the patients to easily get medicines in the district hospital still remains a showpiece. Due to limited space at the open counter in the old building, patients have to struggle to get their medicines. If the crowd increases even a little, the patients waiting in line start breathing. Whereas, one has to struggle even to go to another OPD through the same route.

The new medicine distribution room in the New Surgery OPD in the district hospital was opened two months ago, but it could not operate even for a month. All the patients have to take medicines at the already operated counter in the old building. Firstly, the condition of the patients worsens while traveling there in the scorching sun. Secondly, due to the crowd of patients and less space there, their breathing becomes labored. Due to heavy crowd in the initial days of the week, this counter and the road remain packed. A similar scene was seen at this counter on Thursday also.

Despite permanent arrangements being made to resolve this recurring problem, those responsible do not seem to be serious. Whereas, with the operation of the new counter, half of the patients reaching the hospital can get medicines there. This can save them from traveling long distances and struggling for medicines. Besides, the purpose of spending money can also be fulfilled. Chief Superintendent Dr. Arun Prakash Srivastava told that some staff were engaged in fair duty. Now they have come. Efforts are being made to start a new medicine distribution room.
