Ayodhya. Avadhpuri Colony Phase 3 located on the banks of Rampath has become the new hot spot of dengue. There is waterlogging at many places on the roads in the colony. Drainage is obstructed due to clogged drains. Heaps of garbage have accumulated in the empty plots. In such a situation, the residents here are afraid of the spread of dengue and other communicable diseases.
After the construction of Rampath, the city residents and those coming to Ramnagari from outside have got great convenience in transportation but the residents of Avadhpuri are suffering due to it. During the construction of Rampath, PWD closed the drain which was the main means of water drainage of this colony. In such a situation, the drainage of water coming out of the houses and the water collected during rain has been obstructed.
People here have been facing this problem for a long time. The Municipal Corporation made alternative arrangements for water drainage by installing pumps but this did not provide much relief. Even a little rain causes waterlogging at many places in the colony. Even when there is no rain, the drains overflow and water keeps flowing on the road. People have to commute through dirty water. Children and women face the most problems.
Azad Singh, a resident of the colony, said that several complaints were made to the Municipal Corporation regarding this, but nothing has been done so far towards a permanent solution to the problem. Dr. RK Rai said that the drains are not cleaned. Its drainage is also blocked. Due to this, a lot of trouble is being faced. According to Veena Singh, there is a heap of garbage in an empty plot next to her house. The cleaners do not bother to remove it. Everyone is troubled by its foul smell.
