Vijay Kumar, working as a mate in Ayodhya Cantonment Council, was caught red-handed by the team of Anti Corruption Branch of CBI, Lucknow on Tuesday while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. He will be brought to the capital on Wednesday and presented before the court.
According to sources, Shivam, a resident of Mainpuri, had purchased wood worth Rs 1,37,500 through auction from Ayodhya Cantonment Council. Mate Vijay Kumar was demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000 for issuing its permission letter. Shivam complained about this to the Anti Corruption Branch of CBI on Monday, which when found true in the investigation, the team was sent to Ayodhya to trap Vijay Kumar.
As soon as Vijay Kumar took Rs 10,000 as bribe from Shivam at the Cantonment Council office on Tuesday evening, CBI officials caught him. The CBI team is interrogating him in the Cantonment Board. It is suspected that Vijay Kumar had demanded bribe at the behest of some officer.
Let us tell you that last month, CBI had investigated for two days after receiving a complaint of rigging in tenders in the Cantonment Council office of Ayodhya. Despite coming on the radar of CBI, Cantonment Board employees are not desisting from bribery.
