The royal procession of Chehlum was taken out on the 40th day of Muharram, which is celebrated in the memory of the 72 martyrs of Karbala. In the procession, the organizations expressed their devotion by doing Nauhakhani and Seenajani. Strict security arrangements have been made in the procession as Janmashtami and Chehlum are celebrated on the same day.
On Monday, the Chehlum procession that started from Imambara Jawahar Ali Khan reached Ekdara via Gudri Bazaar and other routes. Here the organizations stopped and remembered the martyrs of Karbala by reciting the Nauha. From here the procession reached Chowk Ghantghar, where the organizations that came from different districts recited the Nauha. On this occasion, a large number of women, children and elderly mourners were present.
During the procession, people visited Amari, Duldul and Alam and offered garlands. The Chehallum procession from Chowk Ghantaghar proceeded towards the tomb via Bajaja, Subhash Nagar, Fateganj. The procession was concluded here after the Majlis. A large number of police force including SP City Madhuban Singh, CO City Shailendra Singh and City Kotwal Ashwani Pandey were present for the security of the procession.
Senior officials of the district administration and police have requested the Shia Committee to conclude the procession before the Janmashtami celebrations begin.
