Lakhs of devotees took a dip in Saryu on Friday on the last bathing festival of Kartik Purnima. This sequence started in the morning and with the breaking of dawn it became more intense. The roads leading from the bathing ghat of Saryu to the major temples remained jam-packed with devotees.

On the last festival of Kartik Purnima fair, which started with fourteen Kosi Parikrama on November 9, a crowd of devotees started gathering from the eve itself for bathing, donation and darshan and worship. Devotees started gathering at the ghats of Saryu from early morning on the day of Purnima Snan to take bath.

Devotees took a dip in the holy water and after worshiping Saryu, they earned virtuous benefits by following the tradition of cow donation. After sunrise, this sequence continued till morning and a large number of devotees started gathering in the monasteries and temples for darshan and worship. At Nageshwarnath, a seat of mythological importance, the devotees performed the anointment of Bhole Baba with as much power and devotion as possible.

Most of the people anointed Baba with Saryu water and there were no less who anointed Baba with milk, ghee or honey on this special festival.

There is a long queue of visitors since morning at the city’s adored Lord Ram and his favorite messenger Hanumant Lala, Hanumangarhi, the main seat of Bajrangbali, Kanak Bhawan, which is the center of faith of Vaishnav tradition, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi etc. temples. The entire fair is being monitored through drones and CCTV cameras. Tight security arrangements have been made at major temples and sensitive places.
