Ayodhya. Those who try to steal electricity by tampering with meters with Jugaad should be careful now. About 400 such meters are being tested in the laboratory. This will expose the tampering done with the meters. If any irregularity is detected, there is a plan to take legal action along with fine against the concerned person.
In the recent past, cases of malfunctioning of electricity meters have increased. Recently, about 400 such meters were replaced across the district, and the Electricity Corporation has become serious. It was suspected that people enjoyed AC a lot during the summer days and seeing the bill increasing, the meter was tampered with and damaged. Due to this, they did not have to pay the bill for the energy stored in the meter, but the Electricity Corporation suffered a huge loss. Among these, the maximum 150 were from Vidyut Vitran Khand II and about 50 were from the urban area. The remaining cases were said to be from Milkipur and Rudauli areas. Now the Electricity Corporation is preparing to take action against such consumers.
Superintending Engineer Ramkumar said that people deliberately damage the meter and also complain on IGRS. About 400 such meters have been sent to the laboratory for testing. If tampering is revealed through software and information about stored energy is received, the outstanding electricity bill will be collected from the concerned consumers with immediate effect. Along with this, a case will also be registered against them. Therefore, consumers are appealed not to fall into the trap of any contract worker, meter reader etc. Do not tamper with the electricity meters and deposit the outstanding electricity bill on time.
