Ayodhya. The mining mafia has become fearless in the district. This can be gauged from the fact that illegal mining of soil was being done in the darkness of the night behind the Shujaganj police post in Rudauli area. When the mining department team raided, the henchmen of the mining mafia fled. During this, eight tractor-trolleys were seized from here.
Similarly, soil mining was being done four kilometers away from Purakalandar police station. The mining department team raided here too and seized three tractor-trolleys. A fine of Rs 25,000 is being imposed on each tractor caught. In this way, a fine of Rs 2.75 lakh will be collected from the owners of 11 tractor-trolleys.
In this connection, the mining department raided Lalpur village of Purakalandar police station area after receiving information about soil mining. A JCB, two tractor-trolleys loaded with soil and a truck loaded with gravel were seized from here. A fine of Rs 3.10 lakh has been imposed on the owners of these vehicles. Mining officer Raghavendra Singh said that the police team was also called on the spot. Inspector Chandrashekhar Pathak of the mining department was also involved in the campaign.
