Ayodhya. Doctors and health workers in the district hospital crossed all limits of insensitivity on Tuesday. A patient admitted in the ICU was beaten with sticks by security personnel. After escaping from their clutches, the patient started shouting in the hospital premises and showed the injuries he had sustained in the beating. Later, the family members got him referred from the hospital. Meanwhile, the district hospital administration has accused the patient of misbehaving under the influence of alcohol.
Rahul Tiwari, a resident of Surwari Lachhan Tiwari Purwa of Raunahi police station area, is already a kidney patient. He was admitted to the ICU of the district hospital on Monday evening on the request of a BJP leader after he got injured due to some reason. On Tuesday morning, the security personnel employed on contract in the hospital beat him with sticks over some issue. After this, he was dragged out of the hospital.
Seeing the media persons gathered outside, the patient narrated his ordeal while crying and the hospital staff and security personnel ran away from there. Pointing towards the staff, the patient made serious allegations against everyone and created a ruckus for a long time while also raising questions on the government system while crying. He alleged that when he got hurt in his hand, he asked for an injection. After this, he was beaten up. He also showed the injuries he received in the beating to the media persons. During this, as there was a lot of commotion in the hospital premises, the police was also informed. The police of Rikabganj outpost reached the spot and took the patient with them. Later, the patient’s uncle got him referred and took him to another hospital.
Inspector in-charge Ashwini Pandey said that the matter of beating a patient has come to notice. On receiving the complaint, action will be taken by registering a case against the concerned person. He said that any patient gets admitted in the hospital with his own problem. In such a situation, the doctor and health workers should help him. In any situation, dial 112 or take the help of local police, do not take law and order in your own hands.
