Chaitra Purnima, Hanuman Jayanti tomorrow, devotees will flock
The festival of Chaitra Shukla Purnima and Hanuman Jayanti will be celebrated today. A large number of devotees will take bath in the holy Salila Saryu. Although there is a tradition of celebrating Hanuman Jayanti on Kartik Krishna Chaturdashi in Ayodhya, but in South Indian tradition Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on Chaitra Shukla Purnima. This tradition is followed in Kaleram Temple, Janaki Mahal Trust. There will be musical Sunderkand recitation along with other rituals in these temples. Sunderkand will be recited in the morning on Hanuman Jayanti in coordination with Mahant Ramdas at Siddha Peeth Naka Hanumangarhi. Bhajan Sandhya will be organized in the evening by offering ‘Savamani Laddus’ to the seated Hanumanji.
Mahant Rambhajan Das of Hanuman Fort, the ancient seat of Ramnagari, tells Ramayani that Lord Hanuman, a devotee of Ram, has been considered the god of Kaliyuga. It is believed that Hanuman ji is the 11th incarnation of Lord Shiva. He is blessed with a long life. Hanuman Jayanti is considered the best day to worship Lord Hanuman and please him. To please Hanuman ji, devotees should recite Ramayana, Ramcharit Manas, Sunderkand, Hanuman Chalisa, Bajrang Baan, Hanuman Bahuk etc. on this day.
