Patients and attendants present at the center for getting tested in the district hospital.-Samvaad
Ayodhya. Forget about arranging the required reagents for blood tests well in advance, they could not make responsible arrangements even within 10 days of the stock being exhausted. In such a situation, even on Saturday, patients kept wandering for hormonal tests including thyroid. There is resentment among the patients towards the system.
A modern machine has been installed for hormone tests in the RDC of the district hospital. Here, patients from District Men’s and Women’s Hospital and patients referred from CHC-PHC are examined. This machine remained closed for about three months during the year due to various reasons, due to which the patients faced problems. Now the patients are bearing the brunt of the negligence of the people handling the hospital administration and RDC management.
Those responsible did not arrange the reagents (chemicals) required for hormonal tests well in advance. Hence the already purchased stock got exhausted. The work continued for a day or two by borrowing reagents from the medical college, but that too ended on April 5 and the investigations came to a standstill. Since then the hospital management has been claiming to order reagents, but the supply could not be made till Saturday.
Allegations of collusion with private centers
Some intellectuals of the district alleged that people associated with the management were deliberately delaying the purchasing process to benefit private centres. Thyroid test is done in private centers for Rs 350. Some other hormone tests are quite expensive. Doctors also get commission in these.
Patient said- don’t know when the system will improve
Rizwana Bano (35) of Ballahata told that she is having stomach problem. The doctor had written for thyroid test, but here the test itself has stopped. Asha (44), resident of Rampurbhagan, said that the weight is continuously increasing. The doctor has prescribed tests, which could not be done. Archita Gupta of Rikabganj and Kusum of Mirzapur etc. said that this has become a daily problem, who knows when the system will improve.
