There is a special tradition of marriage celebrations in the ancient theater palace adjacent to the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Even today, marriage ceremonies are performed here in a 250 year old wooden pavilion. The work of decorating the pavilion in the grand courtyard of the temple has been started. It is believed that when Mother Sita came to the land of Ayodhya after marriage, Kaushalya liked the form of Mother Sita so much that she showed her the Rang Mahal to Sita ji. Mother Sita is worshiped here. Mahant of the temple Ramsharan Das said that the main festival of Vivah Panchami will be celebrated on December 6. On this day, a grand Ram Baraat decorated with elephants, horses and chariots will be taken out. The festival will commence with Mandap Puja on 3rd December. Leela will be staged from Ramjanmabhoomi to Dhanushayagya for four days. Haldi puja program will be held on 4th December. The ritual of Mandwa Puja will be performed on 5th December. A grand wedding procession will take place on 6th December and on the same night, the ethos of Shri Sitaram’s marriage ceremony will be carried out as per the rituals.
